An addition to these changes, some optional attributes will become mandatory in 2019. Attributes becoming mandatory will require changes to your internal processes and systems, where applicable.

Meet with representatives from GS1 Canada at this upcoming industry event.
A recent study performed by the University of Guelph suggests fish is being mislabeled at more than one point in Canada's supply chain.
Bob Hanner, an associate professor in the department of integrative biology at the University states, "Nearly 20 per cent of the samples being imported into Canada were mislabeled."
Researchers states that the solution is a barcode solution, they want to see Canada move to a similar system used in Europe where the scientific Latin name of the genus and species is placed on the label.
