Supplier Compliance to Overwaitea Food Group Data Standards
November 6, 2013
The Overwaitea Food Group (OFG) is committed to data synchronization and global standards, and is supporting the exchange of accurate and timely product data, images and dimensions through ECCnet Registry, ECCnet Image &Validation for Planogram and Marketing Images, and item level nutritional information through the ECCnet Item Certification service.
To support this, Overwaitea Food Group is re-emphasizing some key areas of our standard terms and conditions of trade:
- Unique and Reliable Bar codes - OFG requires your products(cases, inners and items) to be identified with globally-unique bar codes that can scan reliably - Register your Company Prefix Licence with GS1 Canada as soon as possible (if you have not already done so). To register, visit https://www.gs1ca.org/register/start.aspx.
- Accurate product information in ECCnet Registry – Mandatory for our suppliers of fixed weight packaged goods with UPCs to have their products listed in ECCnet Registry - To jumpstart the implementation process, visit https://www.gs1ca.org/jumpstart.
- Timely product data error resolution through the GTIN Discrepancy Reporting (GDR) System – Once a ticket has been logged for an item in the GDR system of ECCnet Registry, OFG requires that you resolve this issue within 24 hours.
- Standardized product images and dimensions through ECCnet Image & Validation (ECCnet I&V) service – OFG requires that your product images and item dimensions are available in the ECCnet I&V database prior to product listing. The product images and dimensional data supports shelf space management and marketing activities such as flyers, inserts and online promotional activities that can help boost the sales of your products.
- Authenticated nutritional data and images through ECCnet Item Certification service – OFG requires that your products be loaded and certified with regard to ingredients, allergens and certifications (Organic, Kosher, Halal, etc.) as well as major claims (gluten free, dairy free, peanut free, etc.). For more information, visit http://www.gs1ca.org/EICS/index.asp, or contact GS1 Canada at 1.800.567.7084, or on itemcertificationsupport@gs1ca.org.
- Participation in GS1 Canada Product Recall service – All recalls must be processed through GS1 Canada Product Recall. If you have any questions regarding GS1 Canada Product Recall, visit http://www.gs1ca.org/Our_Services/GS1_Canada_Product_Recall/index.asp, or contact GS1 Canada, either by phone at 1.800.567.7084, or by email at subscriptionsupport@gs1ca.org.
If you have already subscribed and submitted your data and samples to the above noted GS1 Canada services, we thank you.
Effective November 18, 2013, Overwaitea Food Group has asked GS1 Canada to shop our stores to acquire all remaining missing product images and dimensional data. Your organization will be billed up to $170 for each product not submitted to GS1 Canada – ($140 for marketing and planogram image and certification services, and an additional $30 cost recovery fee for the product purchase).
To ensure that your organization meets Overwaitea Food Group’s trading partner requirements and to avoid these additional fees, please complete these steps by November 18, 2013:
- Ensure your company has a valid GS1 bar code
- Ensure that all products are loaded with ECCnet registry
- Ensure that all products are loaded with ECCnet I&V services
- Ensure that all products have been added to certified in ECCnet Item Certification (Nutrient and Ingredients)
- Ensure that you are subscribed to the GS1 Product Recall service and using this service for all recalls
Our expectation is that you are responsible for maintaining up-to-date product information at all times.
Your cooperation with these business requirements will improve efficiencies and data quality in our business processes. Please contact GS1 Canada, either by phone at 1.800.567.7084, or by email at info@gs1ca.org.
Sincerely,
