GS1 Canada Supplier Excellence Checklist for Grocery

Follow the steps below to ensure your grocery retailers and other trading partners have access to the quality, standardized product data and images required to fuel important business needs.
Step 1: Subscribe to GS1 Canada
- Annual subscriptions are based on the number of Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs) and barcodes you need, starting at $26.76. Get started now.
Step 2: Provide Your Product Data
- If you aren’t registered for the ProSYNC data loading tool, start here. Please note that you may require permission from your GS1 Canada administrator, who you can find through the User Management link on your myGS1 page.
- Input your product data.
Add Your Data in ProSYNC (video). (External link opens in new tab.) - When all required data has been added, share it with your retailers, broker-distributors and other grocery or foodservice trading partners by publishing it to them. Note that they will not be able to access your product data without this step.
How to Publish and Share Your Data Using ProSYNC (video). (External link opens in new tab.) - If you are publishing through GDSN (the Global Data Synchronization Network), please inform ECCnet Support and await confirmation before publishing.
Step 3: Get Product Images
- If you haven’t used GS1 Canada’s product photography services before, visit our content capture page.
- Schedule photography through the Content Capture service tool (External link opens in new tab.). You may require permission from your GS1 Canada administrator, who you can find through the User Management link on your myGS1 page.
- Select Retail Trading Partner Bundle for marketing, planogram, ecommerce and nutritional content. For foodservice product manufacturers, select Foodservice for food and non-food product photography. If your product is sold in both Retail and Foodservice, select the Retail & Foodservice Bundle.
How to Get Your Product Images (Login is required.) (Only available to GS1 Canada subscribers). - You have two options: Ship your products to GS1 Canada Image Studio or send product images to GS1 Canada electronically. Your images will be evaluated to ensure they adhere to global standard image requirements. When your marketing, planogram or foodservice images are ready, they will be available in The Vault, where you and your trading partners can easily view and download the content they need. - If it’s your first time using GS1 Canada’s photography services, you will automatically receive access to The Vault from the My Tools section at the top of your myGS1 landing page.
Step 4: Certify Your Nutritional and eCommerce Content (Retail)
- If you’re not registered for the Product Certification tool, start here.
- When your nutritional and ecommerce product content has been captured, it will be ready for you to certify in the Product Certification tool, which you will have access to from the My Tools section of your myGS1 page once registered. You can also add important product information, benefits and other relevant details for retailers, including extended details on allergens, certifications (halal, gluten-free, etc.) and more.
How to Certify Your Content (Login is required.) - Once certified, your retailers, broker-distributors and other trading partners will be able to access your nutritional and ecommerce content through The Vault.
Please note that they cannot access your nutritional content until it has been certified.
