Goldy’s
Small Business Success Stories
From childhood best friends to co-founders of a space-bound breakfast brand, Daniel Carson and Daniel Schreiber have come a long way since third grade.
Their company, Goldy’s®, isn’t just reinventing how families start their day - it’s about to help astronauts fuel theirs, too. The Toronto-based duo’s Strawberry Lavender Superseed Cereal has been selected for a mission to the International Space Station, where it will nourish NASA and Canadian Space Agency crew members in orbit. Even more astonishing: it’s also slated for a future mission to orbit the moon - the furthest any astronaut has ever travelled.

“We are very proud that our Canadian company is feeding Canadian astronauts,” said Daniel Carson, one of the Co-Founders of Goldy’s.
But before the breakfast brand reached zero gravity, it started in two family kitchens with a simple mission: help busy parents serve healthy breakfasts without the morning chaos. As new dads juggling work and family, Daniel and Daniel couldn’t find a nutritious, ready-to-eat option they trusted for their own kids so they created it.
Launched in 2023, Goldy’s was inspired by the classic tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, a story about finding what’s “just right.” The brand leans into this philosophy not just in name, but in every product it creates.
“We wanted to create a family brand and we resonated with the story of looking for something that’s just right for you and your family… Hence the name Goldy’s,” said Daniel Carson.

Their flagship cereals and oatmeals are packed with a nutrient-rich superseed blend of chia, buckwheat, pumpkin seeds, and hemp, and are sweetened with real freeze-dried fruit. Goldy’s also became the first Canadian brand to use organic date powder as a sweetener - a game-changing move that replaces refined sugar with a clean, minimally processed alternative.
The products are 100% gluten-free, non-GMO, free from artificial ingredients and completely school safe as they are made in a certified nut-free facility - making them an easy choice for health-conscious families and now for space agencies too.
As the brand began to scale into retail, the co-founders turned to GS1 Canada for support in navigating the technical side of product distribution.
“So obviously GS1 Canada is the only place that you can go to obtain barcodes that all major retailers use,” said Daniel Schreiber. “Not only do you guys provide barcodes, but you have a centralized data that all the retailers use, which makes working with retailers predictable.”
“But where GS1 Canada is extremely valuable, is that GS1 Canada is the singular best customer service I’ve ever experienced out of any company ever,” continues Daniel Schreiber. “And I’ll tell you why… The GS1 Canada representative understands what I need and then they hold my hand to make sure that it gets done. GS1 Canada goes the extra mile when it comes to customer service.”
Today, Goldy’s can be found in more than 400 retail stores across Canada including Metro, Whole Foods, Sobeys in Ontario, Healthy Planet, IGA in British Columbia and Nutters in Alberta - plus more locations nationwide, and it’s only getting started.
The two Daniels are dreaming big, with no plans to slow down. “We are going to the moon—so maybe Mars?” Carson laughs. “But in all seriousness, we’re thinking about long term plans, such as new product lines and creating cool stuff that is going to excite people.”
Goldy’s Strawberry Lavender Superseed Cereal is set to launch into space on April 26, 2026 - with a lunar mission on the horizon.
