GS1 Canada's Healthcare Deployment Committee supports the adoption of Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) data for the medical device community (Document link opens in new tab.).
The Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) is the world's largest product data network. GDSN makes it possible for any company, in any market, to share product information seamlessly.
How GDSN Works
With GDSN, product content is uploaded, maintained and shared automatically, ensuring trading partners have immediate access to the most current and complete information needed to exchange products on both local and global markets.
Medical device manufacturers are encouraged to publish GDSN data specific to the healthcare providers they trade with.
Below, you will find guidance and files featuring the specific product attributes needed to support business processes by individual healthcare providers.
This page will be updated with health provider attribute lists as needed and the information needs may change over time.

How to navigate healthcare attributes
- Step1
Review the medical device product attributes and guidance files below by each healthcare provider you do business with.
- Step2
Work with your Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) Data Pool solution provider to load your medical device product data.
If you do not already have a GDSN data pool provider, you may wish to engage with the GS1 Canada GDSN data pool or select a GDSN data pool from the global directory.
- Step3
Contact the relevant healthcare providers to arrange publication of your GDSN medical device product catalogue.
